AMICUM - Lifestyle & Wellness Initiative

My journey at Centro Amicum—a wellness initiative of UM Virtual—began with writing blog articles on topics such as exercise, anxiety, loneliness and personal finance. Each piece was designed around the stages of behavior change (pre-contemplation, contemplation, action, and maintenance), helping readers reflect on their habits as part of a gradual transformation process.

Later, as coordinator, I translated the center’s original idea of support groups through website forums into a more engaging model: short lifestyle courses designed as challenges. These programs created a sense of community by guiding participants through daily steps to build new habits. We successfully launched two of these courses and later developed shorter lifestyle plans, connecting participants from countries such as Mexico, Germany, the United States, and Panama.

After a period away, I was invited back to lead content strategy for Centro Amicum’s social media presence, ensuring that its digital communication aligned with its purpose. Now, I am focused on developing a digital marketing strategy to make the center’s resources—books, lifestyle plans, and other tools—more accessible and appealing, positioning Centro Amicum as a global hub for practical resources that improve people’s daily lives.

Content production

At Centro Amicum, I combined my background in journalism with a collaborative approach to develop impactful lifestyle programs alongside a psychologist colleague. Our work centered on designing courses that not only addressed people’s needs but also inspired real transformation. For example, in the 10-Day Habit Challenge, participants joined a WhatsApp group where they received daily guidance on setting priorities, defining strategies, building discipline, self-reflection, and even practicing self-forgiveness. To craft this content, I conducted in-depth interviews with professionals who shared personal journeys of growth—like a university professor who went from obesity and a sedentary life to becoming a triathlon athlete. My journalistic skills allowed me to capture these powerful stories and translate them into accessible, motivating lessons for participants. Similarly, for the Level Up in 5 Days program, I used the metaphor of a journey to weave together insights from experts in physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health, highlighting the importance of holistic wellbeing. This experience not only strengthened my ability to design educational infoproducts but also showed me the value of storytelling in creating meaningful, transformative learning experiences.

Social Media

From 2021 to 2022, I served as the Community Manager for Centro Amicum’s Instagram account, where I produced video content that consistently generated strong engagement, interactions, and views. The strategy I developed combined trend-driven content with interactive formats that actively involved the audience in the production process. These videos became some of the account’s most successful pieces, showcasing my ability to connect with the community through creative storytelling and social media dynamics. While my current role is limited to providing ideas for content, that earlier period as Community Manager demonstrated the effectiveness of my approach, and it remains a key reference point for the kind of impact I can create.

Mariela is distinguished by her strong commitment to excellence. She consistently seeks ways to improve processes and outcomes, pursuing continuous training to identify new ideas, concepts, and approaches that bring greater value to projects. She demonstrates a high level of responsibility and a deep sense of organizational commitment.
